Volunteers wanted! Next Tuesday, November 21st we are reading a piece on how to bake bread. I need some extra hands and eyes throughout the day to help manage the groups making bread.Bread dough will be made from 8:00-9:00 and then it needs to rise. We'll churn our own butter while waiting. If you cannot commit to the whole day, an hour here or there would be awesome! Please email, dojo message or call me at extension 326.
Supplies: It would be helpful to have a set of measuring spoons, a set of measuring cups, a small bowl, a large bowl, a small bowl and a hand towel per group. There will be 5 groups. As it stands I have one complete set for one group. If you have supplies we could borrow on Tuesday, please send them in with your son/daughter. Thank you!
Just an FYI - There will be an evacuation drill on Thursday morning. Students need to be to school on time. The school will not accept late students after 8:15 in order to prepare for the drill. The drill typically lasts 45 minutes to an hour.
Theme Basket Fundraiser will be in full swing beginning next week. Donations will be accepted through January. Check out the signup genius link below:
Below is a link for information about NBCS's annual Halloween parade and celebration. Hope you can joins us for the festivities!
On Wednesday, 10/11, students will receive their first look at their grades. As I said at Back to School Night, this is their first look at an itemized breakdown of their grades. I use this opportunity to talk about organization and time management. When the paperwork comes home on Wednesday, please take the opportunity to go online to the Parent Portal: Web2School site. Talk about your child's organization tools, resources, and habits. There will be an "assignment" to go onto Parent Portal and look at what assignments are "missing" and what assignments are ones that can be redone "See Mrs. Elliott". If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or call.
Be on the lookout for an email about the Halloween Parade and celebration soon!
Mr. Browne's October Precept from our read aloud book, Wonder. This is such a powerful chapter and I thought it would make a great discussion point at home or riding in the car. Check out the picture below from R.J. Palacio.
